“In a typical hero’s journey, the protagonist sets out on an adventure, undergoes great change and returns in triumph to their point of origin. But in the Irish genre of myth known as eachtraí, the journey to the otherworld ends in a point of no return.” Credit: TED-Ed.
Some of my favorite stories and myths have been of this genre. In fact, you could say my spooky banshee story was one! But I was feeling *inspired* today, so I’m going to write one of my own. Nissa and the Fae One day, a girl went flower-picking in the green hills of Scotland . Her name was Nissa. Nissa, swinging her basket in her hands, runs off into the hills to find heather. She passes streams, where she dips her toes, boulders, where she scratches of the moss, and trees, which she climbs. After so much exercise, Nissa is tired. She lays down on the ground, hoping to regain her breath, but as she does so, a group of blueish lights surround her. Nissa knows what these are. Her mother has told her stories of the will o’the wisps, of the fae. She tells them what her mother told her to say if she ever encountered them. “Begone, beasts of the otherworld! Nay, thou shall not harm me! I shall not be subdued by your charm and feasts! Begone!” The blue lights flicker, then die out. Nissa believes she has won. She rises, ready to run back home, but soon she finds herself at a crossroads that she has never seen before. Her mother has warned her about this, telling her to always go to the middle way, but Nissa, in her panic, forgets her mother’s warning, and runs down the left path. Soon, she catches sight from afar of a large feast, a banquet of sorts. Beautiful people sit laughing, drinking, eating. She cries out in terror. This is a Fae Feast. Any human who joins in is never to be seen again. Nissa remembers her mother’s warning and races towards the middle path. She finds her family’s farm, and begins to run toward it, but out of the corner of her eye, she sees a field full of beautiful flowers, the kind that don’t even grow in Scotland. Abandoning all desire to return home, she enters the flower field, where she finds beautiful daisies. As soon as she picks them all, an orchid appears in front of her, and it continues like this until she is miles away from her home. Every time Nissa believes she has picked all of the flowers, an even more beautiful one appears in front of her. She is so focused on collecting every single blossom, she doesn’t even notice she blue lights flickering all around her. A mother calls for her daughter, who did not return home after she went exploring in the hills, but the daughter is long gone, stolen by the fae. Check them out here! CHAPTER 4
A cloaked figure steps out of the mercedes. I hold out my hand, preparing the energy to burst any second now. As the hood falls, I knew I was correct. Nita. Fresh anguish and anger washes over me. She looks different, but it’s her. From my open window I have a good view of her, but she hasn’t seen me. Yet. I have the element of surprise.Maybe I should play games with her like the Starshiners did me. The car floats in the air, purple energy rippling around it, higher and higher into the air it goes. Then it comes crashing down, and the second it hits the ground, it breaks in half. Her face is priceless. I decide that’s when I should make my appearance. A little deranged, I floated down, a knife ready gripped in my hand under my robe. “Hello, dear Nita,” I say, ready to drop my three years worth of unstableness on her shoulders as well. “Come to attack me yet again?” She looks puzzled. “Don’t feign confusion, Nita. I know that those groups were starshiner. I’m trying to rid the world of a bad thing when I fight you, when I win.” I say, looking at her, smiling sweetly but my eyes say ‘Go away.’ “Listen Oliver, we need to stop fighting-” She begins. “Stop fighting? STOP FIGHTING?” I yelled. 1, 2, 3. Deep breaths. Whooo. “Sorry. Working on the anger problem,” I lifted her into the air 3 feet slowly. “Precautions. You’ve attacked us with no reason many times,” I snap my fingers, and Zeke comes over. He’s skinny, but the best fighter The Outcasts have seen. “You were saying, Nita?” I say, walking over to look up at her, as she begins I look down again. “We-we need to stop fighting-just come back, we won’t do experiments anymore, I promise!” At this I stare at her. “They never told you why I ran away, huh? They never told you their true intentions. Thought that when you became a commander they would tell you as well,” She looks at me, puzzled. “They never intended to join forces, mate. They wanted to destroy me. Destroy me for my magic,” At this, Nita struggles to drop down, her mind clearly not processing. “I’m a power they’ve never seen before, dearest Nita. They wanted it for themselves.Still do, by the way.Aruko knows. He never told you.So I propose…” I say, walking over to the wall and leaning against it. “I propose you join me. There’s nothing for you there. Your brother will never tell you the whole story. So join me. Join me, and you’ll see a whole world you’ve never explored before. Please.” The last word comes out muttered. I put out my hand. She hesitates for a second, then takes it. “Thanks. But first…” Nita says. She pulls out something from her ear, throws it on the floor and breaks it. Communique. “There. I’m on your team now. Can we go in now?” I laugh. I answer in the positive, and we walk inside to the setting sun. CHAPTER 5 “I came as soon as I heard!” A voice screamed, the door banging open, ruining our quiet atmosphere. Nita gets pulled up in a giant upward glacier, her books getting caught in the ice as well. “Alex! Go away! And melt that iceberg, Nita is on our side and that was a day’s worth of research you just destroyed.” I yell. Alex backs up against the door, clearly confused, head flitting between me and Nita, who was screaming “Cold!Cold!Ow!” The ice melted and Alex floated in the air. “I-I’m sorry, Sir! Forgive me!” He screamed, and he slowly drifted to the floor. “I- was also requested to tell you-Harry wants you.” He stuttered out. I laugh and whisper to Nita, who’s glacier had just melted, “My dog speaks more eloquently!” She giggles. So I walk out towards Harry, Alex and Nita following. As I get closer, a whiff of smoke hits my nose. I throw out my hands behind me, stopping Alex and Nita. “Fire. It was a trap.” I say, and throw open Harry’s door. There was flames and smoke dancing around the room, and on the wall written in paint, there were codes. I looked at it, so I would remember with my photographic memory. The starshiners. I turn and look at Nita, and Alex follows. And she floats up, a large sharp icicle at her chin. “What do you know?” I say. And Alex screams, his hand on his temples, and he speaks again with a…..different voice? Deeper. Gravelly. “Son, you know you need to come back to me. I’ve been monitoring through this lad’s mind. He’s a good candidate for a body,” Alex says, holding up his hands and looking at them like they’re a work of art, floating up with black-grey mist towards Nita. “You have new soldiers for me, I see.” He says, using his hand to tilt Nita’s head up towards him, as she is a head shorter than him. “Get off me!” she yells, a wave coming up towards Not-Alex, but it freezes into ice, then shatters. Not-Alex looks at me, and he flicks his hand. I stagger back, a pain in my gut immobilizing me.I fall to the floor against the wall, and I stare up at Not-Alex. “You-you’ve been in Alex’s mind the whole time? Did you make him-” I stutter out. Not-Alex merely nodded, and the simple movement made my eyes water. Suddenly an idea strikes me. “Go away! Leave his body! I do not accept your offer!” I scream hoarsley. “Fine. For now I will leave you alone. For now…” He says, and Alex falls and crumples on the ground, Nita falling as well, landing on her knees. “...Dad?Your dad?” She asks the question I knew she would ask. “I have no idea.Actually, I…” I begin, but then I run away in a huff, the tears streaming from my eyes.People stare as I rush by, but I just push them away. Their words and bodies. “What happened?” “Coward.” I sniff, bursting into my private library.I sink into a beanbag, my mind filling with unintelligible thoughts.I think about the code on the wall of the place, reminding me to call some people to stop the fire. As I use my Transmitter to send the message, I thought about the code again, trying to figure out what it means. Suddenly I got it. Morse code! I pulled up an image of morse code translation that I saw a few years ago and compared it. ‘To the forbidden place you must go, to learn what you need to know.’ Why does it have to rhyme? But then I remembered what the forbidden place is. The human cities. London. I need to go to london. I remember london… all too well. CHAPTER 6 I trace my hand over the stone bricks of a London house. My old house. Where I met Nita and Aruko. And where some bad memories were made. I walk up the steps. Nobody lives here. You bought this place. He is gone. He’s GONE, Oliver. I almost knock on the door on instinct. I silently scold myself as I pull the rusty key out of my pocket. I unlock the door. It creaks slowly as I push it open cautiously, my head flitting back and forth, waiting for him to pop out from behind a corner. He doesn’t, which the reasonable part of me expected.. “Are you here?” I whisper, well knowing nobody would answer. I hear a crash as I walk through the dusty, dark hallway. I peer into the living room, then walk in. My footsteps echo as I search for the source of the noise, but I stop when I reach the couch. There’s spots on the cushions without dust. Someone has been here recently. I slowly turn towards the mattress on the floor I used to so often use. I crouch down to peer at it, and I swipe at it with a finger. I was right. Someone used this.I walk over to the ladder on the bookshelf, rolling it down. As I make it to the next floor, I hear a thump and a rustle.I pull open the blinds on the windows and rub my eyes. Another thump from the dresser, and a groan. Time to investigate. I put out my hand, ready for the energy to rush out. The dresser floats 6 feet up slowly, and the doors open to reveal a red haired girl in a pink blue lightning bolt inside, clearly trying to figure a way out of this. A bit of white-ish smoke goes around her, and she disappears. A ring of purple appears, and the girl reappears inside the ring. “Don’t try to escape-” I start, but then I notice her disheveled appearance. She’s just another mystique that was born with nothing. Another unknown. She slowly falls to the ground, being let down gently with just a dark purple smoke ring around her ankle to find her if she goes invisible. She screams, and turns invisible for a second, but she reappears. “Why-What-Who are you?” She stutters. Her eyes flit to my hair, then to me. She reaches for my hair as she says, “You’re different like me…?” I flinch back, falling backwards against the wall. Her eyebrows arch, and she looks away. “You seem to...know your way around here.” “I have some bad memories.” I mutter. “I found some things that I think might belong to you….” She says, holding up an oval-shaped locket with a rune carved on it.I grab it as she says “I couldn’t figure out what it says, or how to open it, so you can have it. And I found some other stuff too….” She flips her pockets inside out and at least 20 copper coins come tumbling out. “These are worthless to me, so….”She says. I grab them up, slipping them into my pockets. Then I look at the locket. The rune simply says key. “Key.” I whisper, and the rusty locket opens in my palm. Inside is a picture of my old cat who’s at base now and...On the other side there’s a piece of parchment with runes that say ‘you know what you have to do.’ I rip the piece of paper out and tear it into shreds, revealing a picture of my old friend gem. She’s gone now. Not dead, led to the other side, the starshiners, and trapped.I don’t know what happened to her. It’s been 2 years and it’s unclear why her picture is in my old locket.Do I need to save her? You know what to do. I need her for information. I need an adventure in the starshiner’s base. As I think about this, I guess I freeze. After a moment, the girl waves her hand in my face. “Earth to stranger?” She says, and I shriek and fall back again. That’s when it hits me. I take the photo of Gem, and flip it. On the other side, there’s a code. Morse code. .. / .... .- ...- . / - .... . / .... --- .--. . / - .... .- - / ... --- -- . --- -. . / .-- .. .-.. .-.. / ... .- ...- . / -- . .-.-.- / .. ..-. / -.-- --- ..- .----. .-. . / .-. . .- -.. .. -. --. / - .... .. ... --..-- / -.-- --- ..- / -- .. --. .... - / -... . / -- -.-- / --- -. .-.. -.-- / .... --- .--. . .-.-.- / .--. .-.. . .- ... . / ... .- ...- . / -- . --..-- / .- -. -.. / -.-. --- -- . / - --- / - .... . ... . / -.-. --- --- .-. -.. .. -. .- - . ... / - .... . / ..-. .. .-. ... - / --- ..-. / .--- ..- -. . .-.-.- And there’s a set of coordinates that are nearby...in a nearby forest. That’s not what I expected. It's a letter from Gem herself. She must have escaped, and needed my help, because the letter says ‘I have the hope that someone will save me. If you're reading this, you might be my only hope. Please save me, and come to these coordinates the first of june, at 12:30 PM.’ And it seems to have fresh ink. Maybe I can save her without going to the base! A huge load of relief runs through me. Then I realize. Today is the first of june. And it’s 12:00 PM. I don’t have much time. “Canyoucomewithmeokaythanksletsgo.” I manage to yell out and the girl starts getting towed by purple mist behind me as I check where the coordinates would be on the cell phone and head towards there. CHAPTER 7 I rush straight into a bramble bush, the thorns poking me. “Ow, ow, ow!” I whisper, and curse under my breath. I back out towards the girl, who is sit-leaning against a tree, a purple ring around her arms. I peer through the bushes at a clearing, and I know the coordinates are in the middle of it, but I choose to stay back until she gets here, in case of a trap. I glance at my watch. 12:25. 5 minutes. Those 5 minutes feel like 5 HOURS. I wait and wait, nothing to do. Until finally, my watch beeps. It’s 12:30. I look at the clearing again, and there she is.A dark-skinned girl with dark hair with blue at the tips creeps into the clearing. I wait 30 seconds, and yes I counted, and then I step into the clearing, whispering to the orange-haired girl, who’s name I now know is Red, to stay put. Gem floats into the air and I look up at her. “You come alone? This isn’t a trick?” She nods frantically. “I’ve been tricked many times, so I will ask a question. What is my last name?My original one.” Only me and Gem know that name, other than the people who I was born from. “Zaregon!! Your last name is Zaregon!!” She yells. I nod, and she drifts to the ground. She mutters something and kisses the ground. “I...Wouldn’t do that if I were you, Gem. But I want you to meet someone.” I say, and Red walks out of the bushes, putting up her hands. “I’m Red, and-” She begins, but she can’t finish before Gem tackles her. “Who are you?!?” Gem yells, fumbling for her dagger and getting it out, but Red disappears and I see the bushes rustle and a streak of purple run through them. I put out my hand, and Gem floats in the air while Red reappears on the ground next to me. “What was THAT for?!?!” Red yells at Gem. Gem looks panicked for a second, but her eyes fill with guilt and tears. “I’m sorry.” She whispered, and her eyes roll back in her head, and the whites of her eyes glow dark red and black. Her arms just out, the purple mist popping, and she falls to the ground, landing on her feet. “What-It was- It was a trap!I was right!” I yell, scrambling away. A sort of grin formed on Gem’s face, and she chuckled. “I told you, I would leave you alone for a while. But the time has come. Join me or DIE.” She said in the same deep, gravelly voice Alex had when he was possessed. I scream. Then Red floats up, and she starts to scream, her features contorting in pain. “Fine! Fine! Just let everyone else go, please! And leave Gem’s body, PLEASE!” I yell, trying to look away from Red. Red falls to the ground, and Gem does as well. I look around, waiting for something to happen. Just as I thought nothing would happen, the world spins nauseatingly and I shut my eyes. When I open them again, I’m in an unfamiliar place made out of concrete. And there’s chains on my arms. “Hello. Seems you’ve finally come to.” A voice echoes around the room, and I see shoes right in front of me. And I barf right on them. CHAPTER 8 A blow to my cheek throws me out of my drugged daze, but the world is still spinning. I’ve gotten used to these injuries, though. I’ve been here for a month, at least according to my memory, which used to be much better then now as I usually am on a sleeping pill or something like that. I already know trying to escape is pointless. “Dinner. Bottomless gruel and water.” A gruff voice says. At least they feed me well here, but I don’t have much of an appetite nowadays anyways. I releculantly let the person spoon the food into my mouth, and I manage to choke out “Can I have water, please?” I only get water during meals, and I only get breakfast and dinner, so my throat is very dry. I take a sip, and I plead for more.I get it, until suddenly the man snaps up, my food disappears and liquid is poured into my mouth. I black out, which I am all too used to now. After a while, I wake up again, and look at the concrete cell’s one dingy window. It’s afternoon now, meaning I was kept drugged for all night and morning. I sit up slowly, yawning. I always feel completely exhausted but somehow wide awake as well. I hear a loud bang and I sigh. “Don’t even try. You’re gonna get killed. And if you die, I’m gonna kill you ‘cause I’m gonna get punished.” Suddenly I feel a poke, and a familiar voice says “Zaregon. Get up.” I jolt awake yet again. I sigh. It was a dream. “The leader requests audience with you.” I scoff. Requests? More like orders. “Okay, I accept his courteous invitation.” I say, my voice dripping with sarcasm. The man, who’s name I still don’t know, grabs my cuffed hands and drags me through the finger-print required door. I strain to use my powers, but my cuffs just slightly fizzle. A burning pain hits my wrist and I scream. “Don’t try anything, Zaregon. The castle is as well guarded as the cell.” My eyes are shut tight, but I open one slightly as I feel the bumps in the floor turn smooth. From my perspective I can only see the floor, but it even seems like a castle from here. I get thrown on the floor and I wince when I hit it. “Hello, my boy. I see I finally have your acquaintance. Now, what I want to converse about is something I know you know some things about.” I can feel his words coming, and I can’t stop them, so I might as well bring them early. I sigh. “Information about the outcasts….” I mutter, and he nods, reassuring that I can’t tell him. I can’t tell him my most dangerous secret. 3 YEARS LATER. It’s been 3 years since I saw the Starshiner’s true intentions for me. I left that night before they could carry out their plans. I know I’m the bad guy now. That’s no fault of mine. They’re worse than me. “Sir! Another message from Commander Aruko and Commander Nita!” The voice cut through my internal rant. I walk over to the room’s single window, inscribed with runes made by my own hands, looking up at the evening sky. “Give it to me please, Alex.” I say, holding out my hand for the scroll. I’ve gotten many of these since Aruko and Nita became Commander. It always has almost identical pleas. I take a glance at it. They’re desperate. Aruko and Nita know that it’s gonna be hard to bring me down. Please, Oliver, come back, we need you! You should not be on the dark side. “Dark side?” My voice raises to a shout, I crunch the scroll. “Dark side? Is that what they think our team is? You are the one attacking us!” I yell. Alex steps back. Calm down. 1,2,3,4,5. Breath. I take a deep breath and put my hands on my temples. “Sorry Alex. I’m working on it, I promise.” I say. Alex looks at me, his eyes showing pity, and for some reason guilt?anger? Whatever, it’s probably nothing. He puts out his hand for me to take, and I do gladly, secretly wishing I could have him all the time. He helps calm me. “Leader Oliver? I have a question.” Henry says. “I told you, call me sir. I’m not the leader just because I created The Outcasts.” I say, walking closer to Alex, gripping his hand harder. “Ok, sir,” He says, rolling his eyes. “There’s a car coming towards our area. What should we do? I think we should shoot it, it’s not ours.” My expression hardened, and I walked over to Henry. “I told you, The Outcasts are not offensive! I came here to get away from fighting and war!” I scream, tears forming in my eyes. Henry stared at me, fear burning in his eyes. Purple mist appears around his ankles, and he starts floating upwards by his feet. “Help! Help!” He yells. I fall to the floor, as does he. Henry runs out of the room, and Alex crouches down to look at me. “You okay ,Ollie?” He whispers to me. “I-I don’t want to-” I begin before I burst into sobs. “I was like them! I don’t want to be cruel!” I scream. “You’re not. I promise you.” He says. “Really?” I ask weakly. Alex pauses a second, then gets up, pushing back his red hair. “I’m tired of babying you, you know that?” He whispers. “I’m not gonna help you with temper tantrums or take your side all the time anymore. Learn to deal with it.Goodbye.” And he walks away. “Wait. I need you!” I call hoarsley just before he walks out. “Too late.” He says before he leaves. I hold up my amulet, flicking it open. I trace my finger over Alex's picture, and then a sudden burst of fear courses through me as I remember; there’s an unidentified vehicle on my land. And I think I know exactly who it is. I wake up woozily, the room spinning. Where am I? I try to sit up, but there’s chains on my hands and legs. Locked. Ha. Didn’t they know I’m a thief? I try to take the bobby pin from my front pocket with my mouth, but I’m in a hospital gown. I hear footsteps, smell cigarette smoke. I feign sleep as the person enters the room. “Hello?” A familiar voice says, echoing. “Oh. They’ve got you in chains! Nurse Olly, why is he strapped to the table?” I heard a grunt, the light noise of ash falling from a cigarette, and the smoke smell became more faint. “He was squirming when we took blood tests. Apparently he doesn’t like shots.” There’s a chuckle, and I feel a burst of pain as someone punches me. Hard.My eyes snap open, a yell escaping from my mouth. I feel pinching in my arm from a needle, and I drop into a drugged dream. As I wake up again, I hear yelling. “You can’t just keep drugging him, making him sleep! He must be hungry! It’s been a week and all he eats is mushed food in a straw that he’s not even awake to taste!” Someone screams. A week? “Whenever he wakes up he yells!” Some says back. “Because he’s in pain!” The other voice says. I flex my hands slowly so the people won’t see me. The chains are gone. I sit up and say “Can I have a say in this, please?Dammit, I’m hungry.” The girl from before and a nurse turn around and stare at me. The nurse reaches for a needle, but the girl slaps her arm. “I’m sorry for how you’ve been treated. Would you like your clothes back?” She says, pity in her eyes.I nod, getting up. “Where do I change?” I ask. “Bathroom is over there.” The girl says, pointing at a door. I walk over, pulling off the hospital gown and putting on my clothes. As I do, I ponder what recently happened.I’ve been out a week? I walk out, and the girl walks over, dragging her brother. “Hi! My name is Nita, and this is my brother, Aruko. I’m 13, so is he,” She says enthusiastically. “What’s your name?” I look at her, wondering what to say. “My name is Robyn. With a Y. And I’m 13.” I mutter. Nita grins. “We should go to the cafeteria. It’s lunch time.” She says, and we walk out of the room into a hallway. As a person catches sight of me, I can hear them whisper ‘Heathen.’ I stick my tongue out at them. They gasp and run off. Who cares if it ruins my reputation? I’m not staying long. I look at Nita. “So, you can use water? And Aruko, you can heal?” I ask. I point at their hair strips. They both nod. “What about you? I’ve never seen a purple.” Nita says. I shake my head. No way am I telling her. She continues to repeatedly ask until I finally say “Ok, fine, FINE!” I take my backpack and place it on the floor. Then I lift my hand and purple surrounds the bag, and it starts to float. I make it come towards my back and the straps float over my arms. Nita looks at me in awe, and I see Aruko looking at me, surprised. Then he gives me the first smile I have seen on him. I smile back. He hides his face behind a book, but his ears are red. I laugh, and he looks even more like a tomato. But I get distracted as we walk into the cafeteria. I touch my ear. I was right. They didn’t notice my minder. I click it and focus on Nita. This Robyn….is strange. Ooh, cupcakes, yum! I laugh. She has strange thoughts. I focus on Aruko. No. This cannot be possible. Hi guys! So, my friend sent me this story she wrote so I could post it. It's called 3 Moons, and this is the first chapter.
I let out a long sigh. I think they can’t find me here, right? I wipe my brow, panting heavily. “You knew this was going to happen. You knew!” I whisper-yell, throwing the star-shaped bottle he gave me at the damp concrete wall, the hum of rain faint from the single blocked window. The bottle shattered on impact, elixir splattering on the floor, the laminated paper note floating among it. I pick up the note, and rip it in half. You lied. ‘I don’t know who your father is.’ ‘I don’t know what the outcome will be’ ‘this is the only way.’ “AUGH!” I yell, for unknown reason wanting someone to find me. My legs gave out, and I crash to the floor. Ow. My ankle hurts. I inspect it. It seems my bone is sprained. How will I run from the attackers now? Wait. Maybe I can figure out some negotiation? My commander-No, not a commander. I don’t serve liars. The rebel leader is both of our enemies, right? Maybe I can alert them that I'm here. But first, I have a little problem. I glare pointedly at my ankle. I reach into my backpack for my first-aid kit, hoping I packed all the right supplies. I open it, and- There’s nothing but a note. Sorry, but I had to take these. I don’t want you making some ‘friends’ if you know what I mean. There’s no name, but I know for sure who it is. Commander Gradin. They’re keeping tabs on me. Yet another thing to add to the list of things they lied about. “Hey! Commander! This is for you!” I yell, my voice weak but a hint of determination wavering in my heart. I take the note and rip it into shreds, and throw it with the other one. I look around the room. There’s some discarded boxes in the corner. I crawl over, and open them. There’s two thick pieces of wood in each. Maybe a splint? I think. I look at my backpack, wondering if I brought string. I reach in, and I pull out ribbons. Ribbons? Wait, I was posing as a decorator last mission. But whatever, this is good enough. I take off my shoe, and put wood pieces on either side, wrapping it with ribbon and tying it up. Ok, that works. Now to alert them. I limp over to the ladder and climb up. I end up in the room I was in last, under a hidden panel. My old bedroom. I push those thoughts away, and I spot 2 people, a boy and a girl around my age peeking under furniture and searching walls. I step out, my hands up. “I surrender. I want an alliance. I- I just need some supplies and food, please.” I mumble, looking at my feet. The people slowly turned around. Their eyes betrayed confusion and surprise. The girl looks over me. “You’re in pretty bad condition for one of the rebels' best spies. And I pictured you...Differently.” The boy just looks at me, and nods. Most people are surprised by my appearance as well, so i’m not offended at this point. I have brown ear-length hair, with a dirty purple streak, the only thing showing that I’m not your average Mystique. I wear a buttoned white shirt, a jean jacket and thin dark red overalls, and beat up purple Nikes. I have dark green eyes flecked with white, and pale skin except for a brown patch around my left eye. Like a puppy. Memories crowd my head, and I fall onto the couch. My photographic, over-organized memory makes it worse. A dark-skinned boy flashes through my mind. Heartbreak breaks through me again. I curl up and the girl sits next to me, patting me. “Wow, the rebels do not treat their people well. You look starving,” She pulls out a sandwich, handing it to me. “I was saving this for later, but….You need it more than me.” I sit up, devouring the sandwich. I start to get up, but I wince as I put weight on my wounded foot, and I fall back down. The boy looks at me, and hands me an elixir. “It’s a medicine for your leg. Drink it all.” He says, no emotion showing. The girl is about to reach to grab it away, but I drink it down before she can, and the world looks like I have nausea. “I cannot believe you tricked him like that!” the girl yells. “I had to do it, it would be hard to do-” before he finishes, the world goes black. Guys. The apocalypse is approaching! You know how I know that? So I have this friend. I probably should tell you, she's OBSESSED with Rick Riordan's books and mythology in general. Like, OBSESSED But recently, she read a new book series. Which would be fine! Except... you know what? Here are some things she said about it:
"LENA I still like Rick Riordan books but I have just dicovered saomething more" "OMG LENA If you read the other books you would feel the same they are so much deeper and more interesting" "THe Emerald Atlas series book number 2 and 3 BEST BOOKS IN THE WORLD 100 times better than PERCY JACKSON" "BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ IN MY LIFE" So. In conclusion, PREPARE YOURSELVES! THE APOCALYPSE IS COMING!!!!!! IF ______ DOESN'T LOVE PERCY JACKSON BOOKS MORE THAN ANY OTHER BOOK, WHO IS SHE? WHO AM I ?!?!?! WHAT IS LIFE?!?!?!
